The Song From Our Childhood Encouraging Manifestation That We All Forgot About

Choir class was something that we all may have thought was lame. However, there was one great thing about it. We learned a childhood song that encouraged manifestation and we didn’t realize it. Do you all remember the “Accentuate the Positive” song? If not, I’ve included a link to it below.

We may not have known it at the time, but this song is preparing one for the mindset needed to manifest. Yes, this simple song that we all thought was corny as ever is one of our first lessons in manifestation. Many of us were introduced to this song as children and had no idea what the heck we were singing about. But this catchy tune is true today as it was long ago. Take a closer look at the lyrics:

You’ve got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don’t mess with Mister In Between

You’ve got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith or pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene

To illustrate his last remark
Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark
What did they do
Just when everything looked so dark

Man, they said we better
Accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don’t mess with Mister In-Between

No, do not mess with Mister In-Between
Do you hear me, hmm?

Oh, listen to me children and-a you will hear
About the elininatin’ of the negative
And the accent on the positive
And gather ’round me children if you’re willin’
And sit tight while I start reviewin’
The attitude of doin’ right

You’ve got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don’t mess with Mister In Between

You’ve got to spread joy (up to the maximum)
Bring gloom (down) down to the minimum
Otherwise (otherwise) pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene

To illustrate (well illustrate) my last remark (you got the floor)
Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark
What did they say (what did they say)
Say when everything looked so dark
Man, they said we better

Accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don’t mess with Mister In-Between
No! Don’t mess with Mister In-Between

I didn’t want to quote the entire song, but its lyrics are so powerful. A few of my favorites are “Bring gloom down to the minimum otherwise pandemonium.” Don’t we create pandemonium when we keep thinking negatively, thus pushing our desires further away from us? Then, the lyric saying “Don’t mess with mister in-between” is repeated several times.

You have to pick a side. This communicates to me that you can’t be this positive person trying to attract what you want and then drowning yourself in doubt and fear a few minutes later. Nor can you be okay with mister in-between and be cautiously optimistic. One other great lyric that stood out to me was the one about Jonah in the whale, Noah, and the Ark. These are both cases of people from the Bible who had to exude a lot of patience. They could have given up, and it was so dark that they should have. But, they kept on believing.

We have to do the same thing with manifesting. Sometimes we may look foolish to people “building an ark” in the middle of nowhere, anticipating some future occurrence. Most will laugh and mock you for preparing for the invisible. But when those floodwaters come, the laughter and mocking will dissipate because people will see that you were right. They will want to get on your ark with you but it will be too late. No matter how ridiculous people think your dreams are, hold fast to them. Instead of complaining about it not showing up, keep “accentuating the positive, eliminate the negative, and latch on to the affirmative.” Most importantly, “don’t mess with mister in-between” by starting to be cautiously optimistic.
