Part 3 - "The Pursuit is On"
…Two weeks had passed, and Teresa hadn’t heard from Matthew. She didn’t call him either. She just occupied herself with the ins and outs of life such as exercising, cooking, cleaning, and relaxing. Ali had the scratch on her car repaired, as he had promised, and also got a new paint job on her car. In another week Teresa would start back to working on her music, so she wanted to relax and enjoy this down time. She still wanted to go on that vacation she had mentioned to Matthew; however, they weren’t communicating. That didn’t matter. No one would stop her from enjoying the tropical suns of an island vacation. Teresa went online to check out vacation packages that they had at some of the popular travel websites. As she was viewing the sites, she received a call from Matthew.
“Hey babe,” said Matthew. “Hello Matthew,” said Teresa coldly. “Look, baby, I’m sorry for how I acted last time we were together. I miss you,” said Matthew. “I don’t know if I can say the same,” said Teresa. “Listen, honey, I know you are still upset, but I didn’t call to argue. I want to make it up to you for being a complete ass- I mean butthole. I’m preparing another one of your favorites – spicy seafood gumbo over jasmine rice. May I have your permission to serve it to you tonight, Mrs. Larken?” asked Matthew. Teresa blushed at the thought of her last name being changed to his, indicating that he was still interested in marriage. “Mmmm spicy seafood gumbo does sound good, but my new man may be upset with you serving me such a delightful dish,” joked Teresa. “Teresa, I’m sorry for the argument. I was completely out of line. I want to see you tonight,” said Matthew. “Ok. I guess I forgive you. I’ll be waiting for you,” said Teresa. “Alright I’ll see you in a little bit,” said Matthew.
Teresa wanted to spice up the evening, so she decided to go shopping for some sexy lingerie for tonight. Despite the argument, they had a few weeks ago, Teresa missed Matthew and wanted to see him just as much as he wanted to see her. She wasn’t finished looking at the travel information so, she saved it as a favorite page and headed to the boutique near her house. She went in and grabbed a few things and hurried back to the house so that she would have the lingerie on, music playing, and scented candles burning before Matthew arrived. As Teresa headed home, it had started pouring down raining. “Darn I don’t have an umbrella,” said Teresa. She pulled into the garage to keep from getting drenched.
When Teresa walked into her home, she smelled a very fragrant aroma of an entrée that she was unfamiliar with coming from the dining area. Infused with this smell was a peculiar scent like that of incense. As she approached her dining room, she saw the table spread out beautifully. On it were two lit candles, two empty wine glasses, and two unused plates set across from each other. In the middle of the table was a platter of succulent Lamb Tagine drizzled over a bed of couscous with steamed vegetables surrounding it. Near the platter, was a bucket of red Rioja wine. Nestled between one of the plates and the wine bucket was a bouquet of red roses. She also noticed that one of her own songs was playing. Her periphery view let her know that someone was sitting in her living room looking at her. She assumed that someone was Matthew but was so preoccupied with how beautifully laid the table was that she didn’t look at who it was.
“Oh, Matthew this is beautiful and it is certainly different from what you usually prepare; but, baby, I thought we were having…” said Teresa as she abruptly finished her sentence when she saw who was actually in her home. She was startled because the person that she thought was Matthew wasn’t him at all.
It was Ali. He was very handsome, dressed in cream-colored slacks with a cream-colored muscle shirt which emphasized his muscular body.
“Ali, how did you get into my house?” Teresa asked in an annoyed voice. “I let myself in,” said Ali. “Look Ali. I don’t know how the hell you got into my house, but you have no right to be here. I want you out of here right now or, I’m calling the police!” said Teresa. Ali remained in the seat unfazed by her idle threat. “You don’t want me to leave,” said Ali. Teresa went over to her purse on the counter and quickly grabbed her cell phone and proceeded to call the police. Ali got up from his seat and walked toward Teresa. “Stay away from me,” said Teresa. “Hey, I have no weapons, Teresa. I did not come here to harm you, my dear,” said Ali. “Nine-one-one is this an emergency?” asked the dispatcher on the other end of the phone. Ali looked at Teresa in her eyes and compelled her. Teresa wanted to speak and tell the dispatcher to send help, but nothing would come out.
“Nine-one-one is this an emergency?” asked the dispatcher again. Teresa could not move or talk. She was paralyzed by Ali’s captivating presence as he inched closer and closer to her. Ali removed the phone from her hand and hung it up. “Come with me,” he whispered into Teresa’s ear. Ali gently grabbed her hand and led her into the dining room.
Teresa didn’t put up much resistance. He grabbed a fork off the table and picked up some of the warm food onto the fork. He placed it in her mouth. The lamb meat was so tender that it seemingly disintegrated in her mouth as she ate it. She chewed the food effortlessly as she looked at Ali in his eyes enjoying every morsel. He poured some wine for her. He held it up to her lips, and she drank it slowly still looking at him intently. He looked at her as she drank. He removed the glass from her lips and replaced it with his lips on hers. His juicy warm lips were as tasty as the Lamb Tagine. He placed his right thumb tip on her chin and put his left hand on the small of her back. He pulled her closer to him as they kissed more intensely. Though Teresa was enjoying every drop of this man’s kiss, she broke away from him. Teresa was dizzy from the kiss, but she managed to gain her composure. “Ali everything is nice, but I’m going to have to ask you to leave,” said Teresa. They were standing face to face as she told him this. Ali gently grabbed her right arm with his and spent her around gently till she was facing away from him. He pulled her close to him and whispered a poem to her in her ear in Spanish.
Although Teresa was an opera singer and had studied many languages for her performances, she didn’t know Spanish very well but she strangely understood everything Ali said. The poem, though she never read it or heard it before, sounded quite familiar. After he finished the poem, she broke from his embrace and turned to him slowly. “Who are you? I feel like I know you,” said Teresa as she looked intently in his eyes as if searching for answers. “My dear, Teresa, I am the ocean that surrounds you; the clear blue waters that soothe you. I am the wind that comforts you on your journey. I am the cloak that covers you warming your body from head to toe as you travel into the unknown.”
Teresa let out a faint moan as this man’s words floated off his tongue. As he spoke she envisioned a beautiful woman wrapped in a white cloak on a ship floating across the tumultuous sea. Somehow the words he spoke seemed to remind her of something so familiar that it was as if he were reading her soul and reciting it aloud to her. This man’s soft voice and intensely dark eyes weakened her and stimulated her libido. Though his hands were no longer touching her she felt as if she were being held tightly in his embrace. His eyes had her spellbound. Teresa had to look away at the floor to release his hold on her. Ali looked at her wondering why she turned away…
